Wind Blamed in Fatal Motorcycle Accident

Motorcyclist killed in freak accident

A strong gust of wind is blamed for a fatal motorcycle accident in Norfolk Saturday night.

A man driving a motorcycle was crossing the James River Bridge around 8 p.m. when the wind knocked him off his bike, according to Virginia State Police

Garlon Turner, 60, of Suffolk laid the bike down and skidded across the pavement. Virginia State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Cotten said Turner then went over the edge of the bridge and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, Cotten said.
