One of D.C.'s most popular holiday attractions is now open.

ZooLights opened at the National Zoo the day after Thanksgiving.

This year's display features 500,000 environmentally friendly LED lights.

Zoo officials says the event will transform the zoo into a winter wonderland with illuminated animal silhouettes, musical light displays and a new garden light sculpture.

ZooLights will be open every night from 5 to 9 p.m. through Jan. 1. However, the zoo will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.
