Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley's semi-retired Celtic rock band has a gig this weekend after the governor spent time moonlighting as a street musician on Memorial Day.
The Washington Post reports O'Malley's March is booked as the opening act Saturday for Black 47 at Sound Stage. The New York-based Black 47 is on a farewell tour.
O'Malley's band still plays several shows a year. It was in its heyday during O'Malley's run as Baltimore councilman and mayor. O'Malley sings and plays guitar and banjo. He stepped back from his musical work after he launched his 2006 bid for governor.
A photo of O'Malley playing his banjo for visitors at City Dock in Annapolis on Memorial Day drew much attention online. It showed the governor in a T-shirt, shorts and flip-flops.
