Gotham Overpopulation? Marion Cotillard Rumored to be Boarding “Dark Knight”

At this rate, Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne may be reduced to little more than a cameo.

Following the confirmed casting of Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy as Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) and Bane as well as the rumored casting of Joseph Gordon-Levitt in an as-yet-unspecified role (but possibly second-generation mobster Alberto Falcone) comes word that yet another new character will be stalking Batman in the upcoming "Dark Knight Rises."

Christopher Nolan has apparently gone back to the "Inception" well once again, scooping up Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard for what people are speculating is the role of Talia al Ghul.

Fans of the movies will no doubt recognize the last name - Talia is the daughter of Ra's al Ghul, the character played by Liam Neeson in "Batman Begins." Comic fans also know that Talia and Bruce get entangled romantically and even produce a son: Damian Wayne. In current continuity, Damian has taken over the role of Robin - albeit a Robin who spent his formative years being raised by ninjas. So, you know, less "Holy penguin bombs, Batman!" Robin and more "sneak up behind you and snap your limbs before you know he's there" Robin.

Oh, and you know that Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman are all in line to reprise their roles, too, right?

We have faith in Nolan, but any more characters and this could easily become "Legends of the Superheroes." Or, even worse, "Spider-Man 3."
