The former Washington Redskins star and his wife are in the midst of a divorce.

Cooley and his wife, Christy, filed divorce papers in Loudoun County, Va., on Aug. 29, according to a report in The Washington Post. That’s just one day after the Redskins released the tight end from their roster.

The couple has been married for four years. They met when Christy Oglevee was a Redskins cheerleader.

A lawyer for Mrs. Cooley told the Post the two have worked out a settlement. They did not sign a pre-nuptial agreement.
