Too Much Holiday Cheer? Free Cabs Available

SoberRide can get you home

If you partake in a little too much spiked egg nog this holiday season, there's a free cab waiting to take you home.

The SoberRide program is in effect, offering free rides from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. from now until Jan. 1.

To receive a free cab ride home (up to a $30 fare), call 800-200-8294 (TAXI) or #8294 (TAXI) on your AT&T wireless phone. Callers are responsible for any additional fares over $30.

The Washington Regional Alcohol Program has provided more than 52,841 safe rides home since 1993.

And now for the fine print:

You must be 21 or older to use the service. All calls must originate in Montgomery and Prince George's counties in Maryland; the cities of Rockville, Bowie, College Park, Gaithersburg, Greenbelt and Takoma Park in Maryland; the District of Columbia; Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William and Eastern Loudoun counties in Virginia; and the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Manassas and Manassas Park in Virginia.

You cannot reserve a SoberRide or schedule a pickup in advance.
