You'll Need a Passport in DC This Spring

Passport DC takes you to our embassies

Cultural Tourism DC gives you a way to beat the "recession blues" this spring by offering you a free trip around the world ... kind of.

Starting April 30, more than 30 embassies, chanceries and residences in the District are opening their doors for Passport DC by hosting educational programs and sponsoring culturally enriching entertainment -- all in the name of travel!

Over the course of the 10-day program, visitors will enjoy a series of daily (and nightly) events ranging from a kick-off soiree and benefit auction on the 30th, to a night of individually hosted cultural programs spread throughout the city.  It all culminates with an Embassy Open House Day on May 2, when more then 30 embassies will be hosting lectures and performances displaying their unique national culture.

Nearly all the events are free, and some provide free transportation between activities.

In its second year, Passport DC allows visitors to experience music, dance, craft and cuisine of countries from around the world.
