Holmes, Fellow Stars Honor Vets at Memorial Day Concert

Food's OK, but no alcoholic beverages

Actors Gary Sinise, Katie Holmes, Lawrence Fishburne, Dianne Wiest and Joe Mantegna are a few of the stars that will be on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol tonight for the 20th anniversary of the National Memorial Day Concert.

Singer Katharine McFee, Denyce Graves and Trace Adkins will also join them. 

The concert is an annual event to honor American veterans and current members of the U.S. Armed Services.  It's the fourth time Sinise and Mantegna will co-host the concert.

Gates will open to the public at 5:00 p.m. 

Additional security will be in place and security staff will search all bags, coolers, backpacks, and closed containers.  You can bring food to the concert, but no alcoholic beverages of any kind or glass bottles.  

The nearest metro stops to the U.S. Capitol are Capitol South Station and Union Station.

Temporary street closures include: 

  • First Street SW/NW between Independence and Constitution Avenues 
  • Pennsylvania Avenue, NW from First Street, NW to Third Street, NW 
  • Maryland Avenue from First Street, SW to Third Street, SW
  • First Street between Garfield Circle and Peace Circle
