Chase Young shares goodbye to Alex Smith after QB's release originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
Earlier in the week, it was widely reported that Washington quarterback Alex Smith would be released by the team. On Friday, that finally came to fruition, with the Washington Football Team and veteran quarterback mutually electing to move on from one another.
Now that it's official, players and fans are reacting to the news. That includes Defensive Rookie of the Year Chase Young, who holds Smith in great regard after seeing his comeback firsthand and watching the quarterback lead Washington to a surprise playoff berth.

Young posted his short goodbye on Instagram.
His caption is simple: "QB1 4L..."
Calling Smith his QB1 for life is Young's way of showing reverence to one of the team's leaders his rookie season.
Eventually, Young will have spent many more seasons in Washington with a different starting quarterback other than Smith. But according to the talented rookie, Smith will have a special place in his memories forever.
