Then, Ron Rivera's club returns home for a pair of exhibition games: Washington hosts Cincinnati on August 20 (8 p.m. kickoff) before finishing its preseason against its Interstate-95 neighbor Baltimore Ravens on August 28 (4 p.m. kickoff).
Washington's matchup against New England will make the first time in nearly two years the team -- or any NFL club -- plays in a preseason game. The entire preseason was canceled last summer due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier this week, the Washington Football Team announced it plans to have full capacity at FedExField this fall, meaning August 12 will be the first time Washington fans will be able to see the team in-person this season.
Washington begins its regular season with a pair of home games against the Chargers and Giants, meaning the Burgundy and Gold won't hit the road until Week 3 against the Bills. That matchup will take place over one month after Washington traveled to New England, giving Washington an extended travel break at the beginning of the year.
