Westbrook ties Robertson's all-time triple-doubles record originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
What was long considered impossible has now become the inevitable, as Russell Westbrook has tied Oscar Robertson's all-time career triple-doubles record, putting the Wizards guard just one away from making it his own.
Westbrook recorded his 181st regular season triple-double on Saturday night against the Indiana Pacers when he dished out his 10th assist in the 3rd quarter. It's his 35th triple-double of the 2020-21 season in just 61 games.

That's the second-most triple-doubles Westbrook has had in a single season, second only to his NBA-record 42 in 2016-17, and third-most in a single season in NBA history. His record-tying triple-double against Indiana was his fourth straight and seventh in a span of eight games.
Westbrook, 32, is in his 13th NBA season. His first triple-double came on March 2, 2009, back when he was a rookie for the Oklahoma City Thunder. That night he had 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
Westbrook would have eight triple-doubles total in his first six seasons before notching 11 in 2014-15, 18 in 2015-16 and then going all the way up to 42 in 2016-17.
Westbrook already set Wizards franchise records earlier this season for the most triple-doubles in a single season and in a career. Now, he sets his sights on the top spot in NBA history.
The Wizards have four games remaining, beginning with two on the road in Atlanta. They then return home for two games to close out the regular season.
At this rate, Westbrook may be returning home to Washington as the all-time record-holder.
