Larry Hogan on Ron Rivera's fight with cancer: 'He's going to make it' originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera's bout with cancer is just one of the many storylines coming out of Ashburn, VA this football season.
Rivera revealed his cancer diagnosis back in August in a private meeting with the team and later to the media.
Since then, Rivera has received an outpour of love and support from men and women inside the NFL community, as well as outside it. One of those supporters is a man who also dealt with lymphoma and squamous cell himself, Maryland Governor Larry Horgan.
"As soon as I heard the news I reached out to coach Rivera and we had a private conversation about my struggle, and what I went through and I told him that we were all pulling for him and that he was going to be in our prayers," Hogan said on the latest episode of the Washington Football Talk podcast.

"He's a tough guy and I know he's going to be strong and make it through. I recently wrote a book about my cancer struggle and I signed a little personal note to him and sent it to him that day."
Aside from coach Rivera's fight with cancer, Gov. Hogan firmly believes Rivera is the right coach for Washington, saying " I think he's a great addition to the Washington Football Team and I think he's the kind of guy that can really turn this team around."
Washington (1-2) is set to take on the Baltimore Ravens (2-1) Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in the "Battle of the Beltway."
