WFT president says marching band to return for 2021 and beyond originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
A version of the Washington Football Team’s marching band will return to FedExField for the 2022 season as part of the rollout of the new brand, team president Jason Wright said Thursday on 106.7 The Fan’s Grant & Danny show.
“This year with COVID, we've got the drumline and [next year] with the rollout of the rebrand, we'll have the roll back out of the marching band as well," Wright said.

First introduced in 1937, the team’s marching band and its rendition of the now-retired fight song were among some of the team’s longest-standing traditions before it began the process of rebranding last summer.
“It's such an important and unique part of the history, right, and people have made that super clear,” Wright said of the marching band. “And there's some really cool things that our guest experience and our marketing teams are thinking about in how to do that heading into next year and beyond.”
With fans not allowed in the stands last year, the marching band was reduced to an 18-member drumline instead. Those attending Friday’s preseason home opener against the Cincinnati Bengals will find the band back together as Washington looks to build on its NFC East title from a season ago.
