Scenes From the Sprint Cup: Dover

Note: Thanks to FanHouse's alliance with Getty Images, yours truly gets to gaze through many fantastic photos taken by the Getty team each weekend at the race track. "Scenes From" is a new (hopefully regular) feature that will recap some of the best shots and best stories from each Sprint Cup weekend. Enjoy!

Racing Towards the Sun I'm always a big fan of this type of photo that helps the viewer really get a feel for the setting of the race. Dover seems to have quite a few cloudy races, but Sunday's event was far from that with that beautiful sky above the cars and crowd all afternoon.

Chase Chances Go Up in Smoke What could be more telling for how poorly Kyle Busch has performed in the first two races of the Chase for the Sprint Cup? You've got the championship battle logo in the background as one of the odds-on favorites -- Busch -- sputters by with smoke pouring from the exhaust pipes.

Not a Good Day for Buschwacking Kyle Busch's brother Kurt took a sliding trip into the turn one wall in the early laps of Sunday's Camping World 400, starting off an ominous day for the Las Vegas natives. A.J. Allmendinger and Scott Riggs narrowly squeak by above.

Feels Good Again Hendrick Motorsports' Jeff Gordon had the best view in the house for the start of Sunday's race after he won the pole for the 400 lap event. Simply, its been a tough season for the Chase-contending Gordon as he approaches nearly one entire year since his last win at Lowe's Motor Speedway in October.

Beer + Dover + NASCAR = WOO!
Maybe he's cheering as Dale Earnhardt Jr. jumps in the spin cycle along the frontstetch or maybe he's just exacted for the green flag, but one thing is for sure -- this fan is enjoying himself, NASCAR-style.

Who's the King?
NASCAR's Richard Petty -- or, rather, "The King" -- was honored Friday afternoon by Dover International Speedway's officials as "Miles" the monster looked on above him. I'd take Richard in a stock car race any day, but in an action flick? That's up for grabs.
