Frank Mir: I'd Rather Fight Brock Lesnar Than Randy Couture After Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

The UFC heavyweight division will get sorted out at the organization's next two major events, as heavyweight champion Randy Couture fights Brock Lesnar at UFC 91 and interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira fights Frank Mir at UFC 92.

The winners will then fight each other, and although athletes usually avoid looking ahead at future opponents, Mir makes clear that if he beats Nogueira, he'd much rather fight Lesnar than Couture:

"I'd rather fight Brock than Randy," Mir said. "Randy has been dealing with MMA for a lot longer and he knows how to fight off submissions to a greater degree than Brock does. Brock's only trained for two or three years. I've been doing it a lot longer.

"But Randy's ability to stop my submissions would be about the same as my ability to stop his takedowns. He's been wrestling for 18 years - I've been doing martial arts since I was four, so I've been practicing for 25 years. For him to catch up on the submissions game is going to be one heck of a feat."

Mir already beat Lesnar once, so it's not a surprise that he wants to fight Lesnar again, although it is a little bit of a surprise that he'd say so publicly. It's probably a moot point, though, as Nogueira is a heavy favorite to beat Mir.
