16-Year-Old Boy Charged in University of Maryland Baseball Bat Attacked

A 16-year-old boy was charged as an adult in the attack of a University of Maryland student with a baseball bat on campus, University of Maryland Police said. 

Just before 11 p.m. Oct. 6 outside the Stamp Student Union, two students got into a verbal altercation with a passing car, police said. 

At one point, a passenger in the car got out of the car and followed the students, police said. The passenger went back to the car and retrieved the bat, striking one of the two students. 

The student was treated at a hospital and released. 

Police served the 16-year-old suspect with a warrant Oct. 30.
