Victoria's Secret Crowns Newest Angel

There are few events that capture the idea of "fantasy dressing" quite like the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

It was an evening of lingerie and beautiful women as Victoria's Secret named 19-year-old Kylie Bisutti, of Simi Valley, Calif., their newest Angel during the Nov. 19 runway show. The event aired on CBS Dec. 2.
23-year-old Angel finalist Jamie Lee Darley, of Carmel, Calif., also walked in the show as one of the final two contestants.

There are few events that capture the idea of "fantasy dressing" quite like the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, where models parade in over-the-top wings, jewels, and of course, push-up bras.

Heidi Klum said she wasn't going to walk, but eventually she did -- albeit showing a bit less skin. The supermodel appeared as a woodsy goddess -- covered in vines, flowers, and tulle -- and the crowd went wild.

The Black Eyed Peas supplied the beats for this year's performance, and as they broke into "Boom Boom Pow," the models emerged in a rather surprising array of futuristic, sci-fi ensembles.
The head bubble makes her ready for space travel, but the hip embellishments might make it tough to fit in her seat.

These elaborately-architected neon wings were surprisingly cool -- watching them move, they seemed more insect-like than angelic.

Then other outfits looked more harmful than sexy -- Liu Wen is officially the first Asian model to walk the V.S. runway, but she rather looks like she's being sawed in half.

Miranda Kerr wore an incredible amalgam of a wrestler's singlet and a red mylar balloon.
Getty Images
Other looks -- like this armored, warrior princess ensemble -- seemed more like costumes for a post-apocalyptic war movie (starring attractive women, of course).

This asymmetrical unitard, however, was one of the stranger outfits. What inspired Victoria's Secret to veer away from lingerie and towards clownsuits still bewilders us -- hot bod, notwithstanding.

Peace, love, and sweat pants! Behati Prinsloo kicked off the gleeful, '60s flower child-inspired section wearing hand-painted wings and socks with little cherries on them.

A little dose of patriotism came in the form of a red, white, and blue balloon collar and cowboy boots decorated with American flags.
Getty Images
This massive balloon train, however, was undoubtedly the most head-turning of the entire section.

Recession? What recession? The overwhelming theme of the show was excess -- in the form of feathers, dripping jewels, and over-the-knee boots.

For example, model Marisa Miller's black push-up may not look like much, but it's actually worth three million dollars! (We were surprised she didn't walk the stage with bodyguards.)

This outfit is almost entirely composed of glittering gems -- from the statement necklace to the skirt (that looked rather heavy).
Selita Ebanks was similarly encrusted with jewelry, though her corset-inspired top seemed more Native American-inspired.
Some models boasted jewelry so elaborate it practically became their clothing, like this ornate turquoise belt with long beaded strands.
Chicago Sun-Times
Sessilee Lopez wore a similar jewelry-as-clothing outfit, topped off with over-the-knee boots and a lingerie set in matching shades of jewel-tone green. (Did we mention there were a lot of over-the-knee boots?)

If jewels aren't your thing, just add fur! This model's jacket mixes black-and-white beading wtih strips of soft fur.

Model Doutzen Kroes went for feathers and bling. Unfortunately, the feathers were so lavish, it was actually quite hard to make out her face as she walked.

Miranda Kerr led off a moody, whimsical section that seemed both romantic and kind of dark. These wings, if you look closely, are made up of the inner workings of a clock.
Getty Images
Marisa Miller's get-up looked more devil than angel -- or at least more romance novel cover than anything else.

Similarly, these wings had some spokes and gears built into them, though the outfit felt early Victorian with its buttons and exaggerated hips.
These wings, combined with a midnight blue corset and lace ensemble, gave the effect of a parading peacock.

There were, of course, playful moments to the show -- when one model came out dressed as a sexed up Little Red Riding Hood, there were more than a few giggles.
Getty Images
Alessandra Ambrosio's armor-plated look (with elaborate heart-shaped collar) rather reminded us of the Thierry Mugler motorcyle corset featured in George Michael's "Too Funky" video.
Getty Images
The climatic section of the show was all woodsy and dreamy, with Izabel Goulart wearing what looked like corseted leaves and massive, silver-tipped wings.
Getty Images
Other nymph-looking models sported architectural tree-like wings and, er, well-placed rosettes.

This outfit (made of head-to-toe netting) rather gives the impression that this Angel was caught in the wild and seems pretty pleased about it. Again, it takes serious talent not to trip wearing a dress like this and platforms.

Woods or no woods, however, feathers and over-the-knee boots still reigned.

Finally, while Fergie's not exactly an Angel, she deserves some praise for managing to sing and walk with a tight corset, yards of emerald satin, and her underwear showing.
