DiMartino and Gregory were injured in an explosion near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. "I don't want anybody feeling sorry for me," he said. "... I want people to see that this has made me a better person and I want people to become better people through what they see through me"

Don't you love when stories have a happy ending?

Meet Rebekah Gregory and Pete DiMartino. They met in 2012, when she visited friends in New York (he lives in upstate N.Y., she's from Texas). They started talking on Facebook, which turned into texting and before you know it, they were in love.

Last year, Rebekah and Pete were at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, cheering on Pete's mom, when the bombs went off. Rebekah's body shielded her son, Noah, and very likely saved his life.

"It was honestly a mother's worst nightmare," she says.

The couple was also severely injured in the accident. But now, nearly a year later, they--and Noah--are recovering and planning their wedding. A dream wedding, thanks to website The Knot and sponsor Ralph Lauren Romance.

On April 15, 2013, Rebekah and Pete were at the finish line cheering on Pete's mother as she ran the Boston Marathon. When the bomb exploded, Rebekah was blown over, serving as a human shield to her young son. She has endured 15 surgeries and fears of the possible amputation of her leg, which she still faces today. Pete lost 90% of his right Achilles' tendon and suffered multiple broken bones in his ankles. He has since undergone surgery and months of physical therapy.

"What Rebekah has gone through is unimaginable," Pete tells The Knot. But Rebekah seems to be staying positive, only saying, "This experience made me realize what I already knew about Pete: That's he's so special and life is so precious."

If you haven't already get out the tissues, because their engagement story is beautiful. Not to mention inspirational. "Recovery has had its ups and downs," Rebekah recalls. "I was having a rough day and I just called Pete and told him, 'I just need you here right now.'"

"I already had the ring. The next day, I started the drive from Rochester to Texas," Pete says. The couple appeared on Ellen last year and Pete told her, "I was very nervous. I was walking down the stairs, shaking like a leaf the whole time."

"I really couldn't get any words out. I got down on one knee and said, 'You're my best friend and I love you.'" he says. "She said yes before I had to struggle to say anything else."

"Being able to show people you can take something so horrible and turn it into something so beautiful has been such a blessing for us," Rebekah concludes. "I don't know if I'll be able to walk down the aisle, but all I want to do is marry the love of my life."

Rebekah told Buzzfeed the couple was "planning something so small with just our immediate family." Now, they will count on the Internet to plan their big day. The Knot is asking people to vote on everything "from the cake to the flowers to the dress."

First up: Location! Louisville, Ky. (Rebekah's hometown), New York (Pete's hometown), Asheville (their favorite vacation spot) or Boston ("Let's make a happy memory for the city").
