Just when the snow and ice started to clear up, more is on the way.
A mix of rain and snow is expected Thursday afternoon and evening, with 1 inch of snow or less expected in D.C. and to the south and east. More snow is expected north and west of D.C., at 1 to 3 inches.
Rain and snow are expected to fall starting at 4 p.m. Thursday, into early Friday — so your Thursday night and Friday morning commutes could be slower and slicker than usual. There's a chance of school delays Friday morning, Storm Team4 said.
Temperatures will be at or above freezing.
Then, rain is expected Saturday night into Sunday night, with a wintry mix possible. No major snow accumulation is expected over the weekend.
Very cold air will move in Sunday night into Monday. With the wind chill, it will feel as cold as -10 degrees. So bundle up!
The D.C. area experienced a refreeze Wednesday morning after melting snow met freezing temperatures overnight.
Some local streets and sidewalks were slippery, so be extra careful — including on front steps and sidewalks.
One tow truck driver said he's heard quite a few driver horror stories over the past few days.
"Just going to one police call, I see at least three or four cars lined up off the road, hitting guardrails," he said. "It's been nasty. So, everybody, please be careful."
Culpeper, Fairfax, Loudoun, Manassas City, Manassas Park, Rappahannock, Spotsylvania and Stafford public schools were among those that opened two hours late on Wednesday due to the weather. See the full list of school closures and delays here.
