The morning commute could be messy for some in the Annandale area as a water main break closed several roads.
Two eastbound lanes of Little River Turnpike/Route 236 are closed between Old Columbia Pike and Lafayette Park Drive. One westbound lane is also closed due to the 12-inch water main burst on Little River Turnpike.
Work in the area is expected to last through the afternoon, according to Fairfax Water Authority spokeswoman Jeanne Bailey.
