Police are looking for two persons of interest in the robbery and beating death of a man just south of the Eastern Market Metro station last Tuesday.
Carlton Coltrane, 60, was robbed and assaulted outside a 7-Eleven in the 400 block of 8th Street SE just before 1 a.m. Tuesday. He died Friday.
The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide by blunt force trauma.
Coltrane was on disability and walked with a cane, his brother-in-law David Bean told News4's Pat Collins.
"When you sit back and prey on a 60-year-old man with a cane and two grown men attack him for $60? That's a said state of our neighborhood," he said.
Coltrane's only son was stabbed to death in prision in 2010 while serving a sentence for armed bank robberies in Virginia in 2007.
"The family is destroyed," Bean said. "You know we had the loss of his son, and then behind that his mother is very elderly. She's sickly, and we couldn't tell her the day that it happend. We had to wait."
