Two Men Accused of Sex Assault of Girl Lured From Foster Home

Two men lured a 14-year-old girl from a foster home in Laurel, Maryland, and sexually assaulted her in the basement of a D.C. home, police said.

Orlando James Roberts, 45, who is a registered sex offender, and Javon Rashawn Henson, 19, were arrested Tuesday night, officials said.

Henson reportedly met the girl on Instagram and continued to communicate with her by phone, News4's Pat Collins reported.

On July 13, with Roberts posing as Henson's father, the men went to the girl's home to convince her foster mother to let them take her out for a picnic, officials said.

They took the girl to Hains Point, to a nearby McDonald's and to the house of Roberts' mother in the 3200 block of Park Place NW, where Roberts lives, Collins reported.

Roberts and Henson then took turns raping and sexually assaulting the 14-year-old girl in the basement before driving her back to Laurel, according to Laurel police said.

According to court documents, Roberts told her that she couldn't tell anyone and "that this was their secret."

“These two suspects were able to trick the girl’s mother into letting her leave with them, but they made some key mistakes that helped me locate them.” Laurel Police Detective Adam Cheek said.

He identified the suspects and the house in D.C. and shared that information with D.C. police, who made the arrests.

"The facts are horrific and scary for families to have to deal with the set of circumstances that we have here," said D.C. Assistant Chief of Police Peter Newsham.

Both men face charges of first-degree child sexual abuse.

Roberts got out of prison last year after being convicted of the 2001 sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in a parking lot at RFK Stadium.
