Man Sought by DC Police in Couple's Killing

Police are searching for a man accused of killing a couple in D.C.

Investigators believe 33-year-old Alonzo Lewis shot and killed Jaquon Helm, 40, and Venius Badgett, 35, Saturday evening following an argument.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and police chief Peter Newsham spoke Tuesday evening about how they will address the string of murders and shootings in the city. News4's Mark Segraves reports.

Lewis is wanted for first-degree murder while armed. Police describe him as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 180 pounds. He has dark brown eyes and twists in his hair. Police advise he may be armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information leading to an arrest and conviction could be aligible for a $25,000 reward. Call D.C. police at 202-727-9099 or text anonymously to 50411.

Police were also searching for Daquan Gray, 16, in connection with the death of Ballou High School student Jaylyn Wheeler. Wheeler, 15, was fatally shot May 16 on the 600 block of Alabama Avenue SE. Police were investigating whether the shooting could be related to a fight at school.

Gray was arrested Wednesday and charged as an adult in Wheeler's killing.
