Stephen Miarer, Alexandria Teacher, Sentenced for Sexual Contact With Students

A former teacher at Alexandria's T.C. Williams High School was sentenced to one year in prison for inappropriate, sexual contact with at least two high school students.

Stephen Miarer, 38, pleaded guilty last October on two charges of taking indecent liberties with juveniles. According to an indictment, Miarer had an inappropriate relationship with at least two high school students on school grounds.

Miarer, a resident of Woodbridge, was initially sentenced to 10 years, but nine of those years were suspended pending good behavior.

According to the school's website, Miarer had taught psychology and sociology at the school since 2002. He had also worked as a basketball coach.
