A shooting near the Washington Convention Center Thursday night left one man dead.
Witnesses heard gunfire at about 9:35 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man on the sidewalk across the street from the Mount Vernon Square/Convention Center Metro Station. He had a gunshot wound to the head.
The man was pronounced dead at Howard University Hospital late Thursday night.
Investigators believe the victim is in his late teens or early 20's. Police are talking to one person, but it is unclear if that person is a suspect.
It is not yet clear what led to the shooting. Homicide detectives remained at the scene looking for evidence late Thursday night.
