Severe Storms Move Through Area

The National Weather Service issued several severe thunderstorm warnings and a tornado warning as strong storms moved through the area Friday evening..

There have been reports of trees down in the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania areas. Earlier there were reports of hail.

A tornado warning for Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania, Stafford, Prince William and Fairfax counties in Virginia expired at 7:15 p.m.

At 9 p.m., Dominion was reporting 31,355 customers without power in northern Virginia. Pepco reported 1,855 without power in D.C., 7,739 in Montgomery County and 60 in Prince George's County.

The zone of instability over our region today could remain tomorrow and continue to bring a likelihood of afternoon thunderstorms, some of which could be severe.

Saturday's highs will be in the low to mid-80s.

A large area of deep high pressure will be over us Sunday into next week bringing more hot weather.
