Power Companies Work to Restore Electricity

Wind chill temperatures are below zero as roads, walkways and power lines remain in bad shape after arctic weather blew through the region Saturday night into Sunday.

Electricity companies in the D.C. area are reporting about 25,000 customers without power. As of 7:44 a.m. Sunday, Pepco was reporting 8,932 power outages in D.C., Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, Dominion Virginia reported 9,910 customers without power in the Northern Virginia area, and Baltimore Gas & Electric reported 7,773 customers without power in Anne Arundel, Prince George’s and Montgomery counties, and also includes Baltimore.

Many roadways are still ice and snow covered as blowing winds continue to push snow back across roads. NBC4 traffic maps indicate the roads where traffic is still having problems.

A tree fell on a car along 16th Street near Raum Street, Northeast. Officials said no one was hurt, but high winds were to blame.
