Police: Passenger Pepper-Sprays Metrobus Driver

A 26-year-old D.C. woman has been arrested and charged for allegedly pepper-spraying a Metrobus driver in Southeast.

Police say a passenger wearing a dark coat and hair curlers sprayed the female driver just before 1 p.m. Monday, then escaped at a bus stop at Stanton and Elvans roads. A suspect, Dominique Edwards of Southeast D.C., was later arrested and charged with simple assault.

The bus driver was treated at the scene. Police say no passengers were injured.

Metro Transit police say investigators are reviewing surveillance video as part of the investigation.

There's still no word on what led to the incident.
