Anne Arundel County police are investigating a shooting at a Walmart in Laurel.
About 4:15 a.m., officers responded to the report of a shooting at the 24-hour Walmart in the 3500 block of Russett Green East.
One Walmart employee told News4 that he helped the suspect seconds before the shooting occurred. The employee described the suspect as "nervous" and said his manager was shot.
A 28-year-old man was shot in the upper chest and has non-life-threatening injuries. News4's Tony Tull reported that the manager is expected to "be OK."
Police are investigating the incident as a commercial armed robbery. They said the gunman demanded money, and after the victim complied, the gunman forced him outside and shot him in the parking lot before fleeing.
A manhunt is under way for the suspect, who was described as a white man with black pants, a black jacket and a gray hooded sweatshirt. An employee told News4 the gunman's face was covered with a scarf. He fled in a dark-colored van.
A few minutes after the shooting was reported to police, authorities found what they believe to be the getaway vehicle nearby and burned, reported News4's Jackie Bensen. Police are continuing to investigate.
The store resumed business by late morning with increased police presence. Some employees said they were afraid to go to work, but others said it was important to do.
Anyone with information about the shooting or whereabouts of the gunman should contact police at 410-222-3432.
