Police Investigate Death of 10-Month-Old After Medical Workers Thought Injuries Were Suspicious

Leesburg Police are investigating the death of a 10-month girl over the weekend after hospital workers deemed the baby's injuries to be suspicious.

Police said Monday that they are awaiting an autopsy report from the medical examiner in the District of Columbia.

The little girl lived on Great Laurel Square in Leesburg. She was taken to Inova Loudoun Hospital on Friday and was later sent to Children's National Medical Center in Washington.

A hospital official there contacted Loudoun County Child Protective Services.

The baby, who was not identified by police, was removed from life support Sunday morning and passed away.
