Police have identified the man whose body was found along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal in Georgetown Tuesday morning.
The body of 51-year-old Osbaldo Lemus Bernal was discovered about 8 a.m. on the 100 block of Canal Street NW.
Police said his death does not appear suspicious.
Two people called police Tuesday morning after they spotted a backpack floating in the canal, police said.
Bernal's body was sent to the medical examiner, who will determine the cause of death.
