Join hundreds of people who are committed to preventing suicide -- and to funding research and support for those at risk and their loved ones -- at an "Out of the Darkness" walk.
Sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, these walks help fund research into genetic, biological and behavioral factors that could lead to suicide. They also fund a landmark study that the AFSP has launched into how best to help survivors of suicide loss through their grief - and the volunteer efforts of AFSP chapters.
Walks are being held throughout the metro area in September. You can register to raise money and walk or get more information at the links below.
Manassas: Sept. 28, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Harris Pavillion. Click here for more information.
Walks were previously held Sept. 7 in Fairfax (click here for more information), Sept. 13 in Montgomery County (click here for more information), and at the National Mall on September 20 (click here for more information).
NBC4 is proud to partner with the D.C. area walks as part of our Changing Minds campaign.
