Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman has named a new police chief.
The Capital reports Friday that Kevin Davis, who currently serves as assistant chief in Prince George's County, will lead Anne Arundel County's police department. The appointment is effective Monday.
The Crofton resident has worked for the Prince George's County department for 21 years.
Neuman says she is confident that under Davis' leadership the department ``will be restored with the pride and professionalism it once had.''
Former Chief Larry Tolliver resigned in May. He said the move was unrelated to an investigation of complaints that he retaliated against officers who testified against the previous county executive. Neuman said the probe determined complaints were unfounded but uncovered that Tolliver used a slur at work. He apologized for the remark.
