More coupons are now available for digital television converter boxes, but people need to act fast to keep their TVs from fading to black in June.
All District residents still in need of a converter box coupon need to request one immediately from the government, Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton said Thursday.
In February, Congress passed the American Recovery Act, re-setting the conversion date to June 12, after it deemed that not enough converter coupons were available for those who needed them. The Act called for money to be set aside to fund enough coupons for just about everyone.
You can request a DTV conversion coupon by:
- Going to the DTV website: www.dtv2009.gov
- Calling 1-888-DTV-2009 (1-888-388-2009)
- Faxing an application to 1-877-DTV-4ME2 (1-877-388-4632)
