An 18-year-old Virginia man has been missing for almost a week, and police believe his life could be in danger.
Miguel Angel Ruiz Carrillo was last seen Aug. 3 leaving his home in the 4200 block of Buckman Road in the Alexandria section of the county. When he didn't come home by the next morning, his family called police.
Carrillo was initially listed in the National Crime Information Center computer as missing, but as detectives gathered more information, his status was changed Sunday to "missing/endangered."
"It's so out of his character to just go missing and not let his family know where he is and what he's doing," Fairfax County Police spokesman Don Gotthardt said.
Carrillo's disappearance is suspicious and may be gang-related, investigators said. Fairfax County Police now believe he was last seen in a wooded area near the end of Pole Road at Pondside Terrace.
Police combed the woods with K-9 teams Tuesday, and a helicopter was deployed as well.
Carrillo is an eleventh grader at an alternative school in the Fairfax County Public Schools system.
