Metro SmarTrip Upgrades to Impact Weekend Transactions

Metro customers may experience some temporary restrictions this weekend as the mass transit system upgrades its SmarTrip software.

On Saturday, farecard and pass machines in stations will not accept credit transactions larger than $20. Debit transactions will not be accepted at all.Cash transactions of any value can be made. Regular credit and debit transaction functions will be available by 12:01 a.m. Sunday.

On Saturday and Sunday SmarTrip point-of-sale units like those at CVS and other stores will accept cash only.

Online account information, access to SmartBenefits web applications or claiming of benefits will also be unavailable all weekend.

According to Metro all of the normal functions will be restored by 12:01 a.m. Monday.
