Better late than never, we guess?

Maryland legend Len Bias has finally been selected to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. He'll be going into the Hall in a class with David Greenwood (UCLA), Hersey Hawkins (Bradley), Jim Jackson (Ohio State), Antawn Jamison (UNC), Paul Pierce (Kansas) and coaches Rick Byrd and Tom Penders.

This is a long, long overdue honor for one of the greatest players in college basketball history. Bias dominated the ACC for Maryland from 1982-86, winning two ACC Player of the Year awards and making multiple first-team All-American teams. He scored 2,149 points in his career, third-most in program history, and was selected second overall in the 1986 NBA Draft by the Celtics.

Bias tragically passed away shortly after being drafted, never getting to play in the NBA. But his impact on the University of Maryland and college basketball as a whole was second to none, and he is well deserving of the honor of making the Hall of Fame.
