In Maryland, you canβt write or send a text while youβre driving. But soon, you may be able to write or send one while youβre sitting in traffic or at a stoplight.
On Monday, Maryland senators voted to weaken the current ban on text messaging to apply only when a vehicle is moving.
The House of Delegates, on the other hand, voted to strengthen the bill by adding a ban on reading text messages behind the wheel as well.
Since both chambers passed different versions of the legislation, they will need to form a conference committee to agree on a compromise measure.
We all know distracted driving is dangerous, but wouldn't it be nice to pass the time in traffic on the Beltway by sending a few texts?
