Husband and Wife Killed in Maryland Watercraft Crash

Maryland police have identified the victims of a watercraft crash as a husband and wife from Reston, Virginia.

The couple, 48-year-old Elizabeth Howle and 53-year-old Jeffrey Sessions, was killed when they crashed into a marker in the South River early Wednesday morning, Anne Arundel County firefighters said.

Witnesses told police that a man and woman left a home in the 200 block of Edgewater Drive in Edgewater, Maryland, after 1:30 a.m. They later heard a crash around 1:45 a.m. and called 911 to report that the two people had not returned.

Anne Arundel County Fire got the call about 2:30 a.m., which brought rescuers to the 100 block of Edgewater Drive, near Spring Lake and the South River.

Authorities said they found a partially submerged watercraft with damage and no one aboard. They later found the bodies of a man and a woman and pulled them from the river about 5:15 a.m. They were not wearing life jackets.

This incident marks six deaths in Anne Arundel County waters in less than a week.
