Police: Man With Pet Python Arrested After Firing Bullets Into Nearby Home

Police say a man appeared to be squatting in a vacant home with a 6-foot python

A man accused of squatting in a home with his 6-foot pet python was arrested Monday for firing bullets into a nearby home, the McLean Police Department said.

Around 4:10 a.m., a resident of the 2000 block of Cherri Drive reported that someone had apparently fired bullets into the home. The bullets appeared to have come from an adjacent home which should have been vacant, police said.

Officers found Michael Stride, 35, of no fixed address, squatting in the home.

Police also found several handguns and a 6-foot python inside the vacant home.

Stride was arrested and charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling. Animal Control took custody of the snake, police said.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
