Man Trapped by Conveyor Belt, Suffers Traumatic Injuries to Legs

A man was rescued from a piece of machinery Saturday morning after his legs became entangled in a conveyor belt.

Mark Brady, chief spokesman for the Prince George’s County Fire Department, said emergency crews were called to a recycling center in the 2000 block of Kenilworth Avenue in Chapel Oaks. When they arrived, they found a man in his late 20s who was trapped in the conveyor belt.

After freeing the man from the machine, paramedics treated traumatic injuries to both legs. He was taken to a nearby trauma center.

Brady said the victim’s injuries were serious, but not life threatening. The victim was not identified.
