Kenilworth Garden Lotus Is on Park Service Anniversary Stamp

A pretty pink flower from an aquatic garden in Washington is among the stars of a new series of postage stamps.

National Park Service officials are celebrating the U.S. Postal Service's selection of the image at an event Thursday at Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens.

The agency says in a statement that the sacred lotus is among the images chosen for a series of first-class stamps honoring the park service's 100th anniversary. Others depict the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park and Assateague Island National Seashore.

The park service says the lotus stamp was created from a photograph by Cindy Dyer of Alexandria, Virginia.

The agency says Kenilworth Park is the only remaining tidal marsh in Washington, and the only national park dedicated to cultivating water-loving plants from around the world.
