Four Arrested in Connection With Craigslist Robberies

Fairfax County police have released the names of four people accused in a handful of robberies and brutal assaults that started with Craigslist ads.

Wendy Lotongo, 19, of Alexandria, David Williams, 20, of Annandale, Mohamed Haddou, 19, of Annandale and David Obripau, 19, of northeast D.C. all face various charges in connection with the attacks.

The suspects allegedly lured their victims to a meeting spot promising to sell them an iPhone. Once they met, the victims were attacked and robbed, police said.

According to investigators, there have been five such attacks in the past few months. In two cases, the victims drove to an Annandale playground where three men came out from behind the trees and punch and kick the victims, taking their money and cellphones. One beating was so brutal the victim suffered a broken bone and vision loss.

Investigators did not specify which crimes each suspect was associated with.

Police believe others may be involved in the crimes.

Police warn that if you do arrange a meeting through Craigslist, only meet in very public place.

In addition to looking for more suspects, police are looking for more victims.
