Annapolis police responded to five reported heroin overdoses Tuesday night within hours of each other.
A man and woman apparently used heroin before entering a Rite Aid pharmacy at the Eastport shopping center on Bayridge Avenue. They collapsed on the floor and police were called about an overdose.
On Youngs Farm Road Tuesday night, three people overdosed on heroin in a parking lot at a community pool, police said. Two were alert and responsive when medics arrived. The third is in critical condition.
Since September, 300 people have died of heroin overdoses in Maryland. The heroin being sold across Maryland these days often is mixed with other drugs, making it more dangerous.
