All Clear Given After Suspicious Letter at Synagogue in Potomac

An all-clear was given Friday afternoon following a report of several people overcome after a piece of mail was opened at a synagogue in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Montgomery County Fire & Rescue was called to Congregation Har Shalom on Falls Road in Potomac shortly before noon. Crews isolated the piece of mail and checked several people who came in contact with it.

About 1 p.m., a Fire & EMS spokesman said there was no hazard and no injuries.

Some people at the synagogue sheltered in place during the response.

Police are continuing the investigation into the suspicious letter.
