A 12-year-old boy was robbed at gunpoint by two other children while walking home from school with his younger brother in Northwest D.C. Friday, police say.
According to a police report, a boy between the age of 8 and 10 years old and another male youth between 13 and 14 years old approached the pair around 2:30 p.m. Friday at 4th Street and Madison Street NW, in the Brightwood/Manor Park area.
One of the suspects allegedly pointed a handgun at the 12-year-old victim's head and then stole his cell phone, the boy told police.
The two suspects then made their getaway riding on one bike.
The mother of the robbery victim said she was horrified.
"It's a lot of anger," the mother said, asking that her name be withheld. "I don't understand why these kids are out here doing this sort of thing."
The younger of the two suspects stands between 4-foot-6 and 4-foot-8, police said. The older boy is about 5-foot-3.
