Cell Phones Banned From Culpeper Courtrooms Unless Users Get Permission

No longer allowed without written permission from court officials

Cell phones and other electronic recording devices are no longer allowed in Culpeper County's courtrooms without written permission from court officials.

The ban went into effect Monday. Violators will be found in contempt of court and could face jail time or a fine.

Circuit Court Judge Susan Whitlock signed an order banning the devices in all courtrooms in May, reported the Culpeper Star-Exponent. She signed a similar ban for circuit court in January.
