Game show host Bob Barker says the price of killing deer is too high, according to the Washington Examiner.

The city of Rockville asked for public input on their proposed plan to control the area's deer population.  Among the plan's proposals - an option to reduce the population by lethal means.

The former "Price is Right" host wrote in to let Rockville authorities what he thought of the idea.

From the Examiner:

Barker has asked residents to write to Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio and members of the city council not to kill the deer.

"... deer shot by arrows often linger for days in agony," he said. "Not fair for the deer who has been hit, not fair for the other deer who are witness to this; and not fair to the youngster who might encounter that deer while walking to school

Montgomery County officials have said the area's large white-tailed deer population has been an environmental, safety and economic problem.  At the county level, officials have encouraged deer hunting to reduce the population.

Barker has long campaigned for animal rights.  He joined a band of celebs to fight for elephant rights at the L.A. Zoo a few years ago.
