A federal judge will allow a jury to hear a New York woman’s claim against a motel in Albemarle County, Virginia.
Janie McFarland stayed at a Super 8 motel in 2014. She said she discovered more than 40 bedbug bites on her body after staying at the motel and is seeking $5 million in damages.
The hotel claimed they didn't find any bedbugs and submitted dozens of pages of pest control reports from the year leading up to McFarland's stay.
But in a written opinion, the judge said those reports show no indication that the room was inspected for bed bugs prior to McFarland's visit. The trial is set for July in Charlottesville.
