Carmakers Respond to Headlight Ranking Report

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety released its first-ever rankings for headlights on vehicles.

The following automakers have responded to the rankings:

The BMW Group has been an industry leader for headlight technology innovation for more than four decades. BMW was the first to introduce ellipsoid projector headlights, electronic adaptive headlight technology, xenon headlights and most recently BMW Laser lights. BMW has also pioneered Night Vision systems that can detect animals and pedestrians far beyond the range of the best headlight systems. While we are disappointed with the results of the IIHS headlight test of a BMW 3 Series equipped with basic halogen headlights, we remain confident that we offer our customers very effective headlight systems at a variety of price points.

Nissan Group is committed to the safety and security of our customers and their passengers. We are aware of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s recent report on vehicle headlights, but we have not fully reviewed the data at this time. However, all Nissan and Infiniti headlights meet or exceed applicable NHTSA and SAE requirements.
